Since its launch in 2018, the Stormzy Scholarship has provided financial support to 32 UK Black students helping to transform their University experience. This began with two students each year, before the scheme was expanded in 2021.
The Cambridge Trust offers a small programme of Cambridge scholarships for undergraduate students who are set at the Overseas fee rate. Most of these awards are part-cost, offering a contribution towards the cost of studying at the University of Cambridge. Here you can find information on eligibility and how to apply.
As such, the scholarships fully fund female and/or Black students to study AI-related fields at the University of Cambridge, these groups being currently under-represented. Scholars are also offered support from a DeepMind mentor, and have opportunities to attend leading AI academic conferences and DeepMind events.
Applicants submit their application for admission and funding (Gates Cambridge and other funding) via the University’s Graduate Application Portal. To be considered for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship you must complete the section to apply for admission to a course and a College place and the Gates Cambridge part of the funding section.

Since the first class in 2001, Gates Cambridge has awarded 2,183 scholarships to scholars from 114 countries who represent nearly 800 universities globally, and more than 80 academic departments and all 31 Colleges at Cambridge.
The China Scholarship Council works with the Cambridge Trust to offer both the CSC Cambridge Scholarship (for PhD applicants), and the CSC Cambridge Masters Scholarship.
