Yuriko Koike (小池 百合子, Koike Yuriko, born 15 July 1952) is a Japanese politician, who has served as the Governor of Tokyo since 2016. She graduated from Cairo University in 1976 and was a member of the House of Representatives of Japan from 1993 until 2016, when she resigned to run for Governor of Tokyo.

来歴. 生い立ち. 兵庫県 芦屋市 で育った。 父・ 小池勇二郎 は戦時中、 仲小路彰 、 小島威彦 らが創設した思想団体「スメラ学塾」のメンバーとして活動し、石油関連の貿易商として戦後に財を成した [11] 。 また、政治家への転身を考えていた父親は 末次一郎 に心酔していた。 1959年、末次の主催する日本健青会が エジプト との交流事業を行い、その一環としてアラブ、アフリカ諸国に視察団を送る。 視察団に参加した勇二郎はエジプトの カイロ で感激し「自分はここに残って商売がしたい」と言い出した。 結局、周囲に説得させられて帰国するが、小池百合子とエジプトの縁はここに端を発した [12] 。 学生時代. 芦屋市立岩園小学校 、 甲南女子中学校 を経て、1968年に 甲南女子高校 に進学。
